If your doors have a large glass window that could easily be broken, consider replacing it with a solid door or one with a higher window. This way a wood be burglar can't break the window and unlock the door.
If you have a door that's vulnerable that you can't replace, try slipping a jammer under the knob. This device fits securely under the door knob and secures to the floor to make the door hard to open.
Along those same lines, if you're worried about windows being shimmied open, place a thick wooden dowel in the window track to prevent it from opening.
Another idea, drill through both window frames where they meet and then take a slightly larger nail and slide it in to prevent the window from moving.
If you're concerned that you wouldn't hear an intruder, place surface alarms on your doors. These alarms set off a shrill squeal when the contact is broken and it will alert you and could scare off a burglar.
Install motion sensored lights on your property. If someone is sneaking around the lights will come on to startle them and alert you.
