A former New Jersey police officer who admitted having sex with a prostitute while on duty has forfeited his pension of 23 years.

A judge sentenced Richard Cavanaugh to two years probation Friday. The 45-year-old also is barred from public employment in the Garden State.

Cavanaugh pleaded guilty to official misconduct in March.

The Egg Harbor Township police officer admitted he was in uniform when he drove to a hotel in his patrol car in 2007 and had a prostitute perform a sex act on him.
