Philadelphia man drowns at Jersey shore

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, N.J. (AP) - June 2, 2009 Point Pleasant Beach police say 25-year-old Johnson Thomas was in the water near the Manasquan Inlet when a large wave separated him from his two friends Monday night.

The Coast Guard found Thomas unresponsive in the water.

A Coast Guard member began CPR and Thomas was transported to Ocean Medical Center in Brick, where he was pronounced dead.
