NCCo. council members to return part of salaries

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - June 3, 2009 Council President Paul Clark says members and council staff will give 5 percent of their salaries to the general fund or County Pride, a nonprofit group that helps maintain libraries and parks.

Clark says unions representing most county employees have agreed to similar pay cuts, and talks continue with the locals representing police, paramedics and 911 operators, who haven't yet agreed.

Clark says the decision to return the money is strictly voluntary and was not voted on.
