Mrs. Fixit: Linen Closet

June 13, 2009

Label your shelves so that sheets are always put in the right place and it's easy to see what bed needs what.

When you fold sheets, fold the fitted sheet and pillowcases first. Then fold the flat sheet so it makes a long rectangle. Set the other pieces on the flat sheet and then fold it around the rest making a little package that can be put away and pulled out without making a mess.

Another tip, when you put a set of sheets away, put it on the bottom of the pile. This way you're always rotating the sheets and they'll get even wear and won't become musty from sitting in the closet.

Speaking of musty. A box of baking soda on the shelf of your linen closet will absorb moisture and freshen the closet.

Blankets are bulky and you can topple a whole pile when you're trying to pull out one blanket.

Instead of stacking them high, fold them and then secure an old belt around the folded blanket. They'll stay stacked neatly and you've made little handles to hold as you're pulling them out or putting them away.

Easy ideas to keep your linens organized. I'm Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple.
