Jogger discovers dead woman in car

Police are investigating a deadly shooting that left a woman slumped over in her car.At approximately 8:40 a.m. Saturday morning, a jogger passed by a car in the area of 41st and Tatnall Street.

The jogger noticed a woman in the car slumped over the steering. After trying to awaken to the victim, the jogger noticed blood on the woman and in the vehicle.

The woman has been identified as 33-year-old Salima "Star" Jefferson from New Castle.

Officers were called in and observed that Jefferson had been shot in the upper body was unresponsive. Arriving paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. The victim had sustained more than one gunshot wound to the upper body.

The vehicle, a Cadillac SUV, is registered to Jefferson. a 33-year-old female from New Castle.

Wilmington Police are asking anyone who may have seen the victim and / or her vehicle Friday night or early Saturday or anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Detective Brock at 576-3624 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
