Suspect named in Frazier step grandson shooting

PHILADELPHIA - June 8, 2009 Investigators issued an arrest warrant for Rodney Evans, 32, for the killing of Peter Lyde, Jr., 25, back on May 31st.

Police were called to the Pleasures on the Ridge Tavern located in the 2200 block of Ridge Avenue around 1:30 a.m.

Lyde was working security in the tavern when authorities say Evans got into an argument with another customer.

Police say both men pulled out guns and started firing at each other.

Lyde was shot once in the chest and died at Temple University Hospital.

Evans is described as a black man around 6'5" tall around 300 pounds. Police say he is considered armed and dangerous.

Lyde was the son of Peter Lyde Sr. who is married to Judge Jacqui Frazier-Lyde. Jacqui is the daughter of boxing legend Joe Frazier and is a municipal court judge in Pennsylvania.
