"I just want to thank everybody and all the support I have, because if it wasn't for everybody, and all you people, I wouldn't know what to do," Jefferson said.

Salema Jefferson was found approximately 8:40 a.m. Saturday morning, when a jogger passed by a car in the area of 41st and Tatnall Street.

The jogger noticed Salema in the car slumped over the steering wheel. After trying to awaken her, the jogger noticed blood on the woman and in the vehicle.

Officers were called in and observed that Salema Jefferson had been shot in the upper body was unresponsive. Arriving paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. The victim had sustained more than one gunshot wound to the upper body.

The vehicle, a Cadillac SUV, is registered to Jefferson.
