Girl grabbed, manages to escape

NEWARK, Del. (AP) - June 10, 2009 The girl tells police that she was walking through the rear of the Pathmark parking lot in the 100 block of College Square around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, when the man forced her into a car.

"The subject in the vehicle immediately jumped out, grabbed her, and shoved her into the vehicle," Cpl. Gerald Bryda of the Newark Police said.

Police say the girl told investigators that the man tried to sexually assault her as he drove. flee.

However, once the car approached an intersection, the girl was able to escape and ran to a nearby Boston Market where she screamed for help.

The girl did not require treatment for a minor injury.

The girl described the man as Hispanic, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with short, spiked hair, a tattoo under his left eye and facial acne. She told police he was driving a black four-door sedan with heavily tinted windows and chrome rims displaying Pennsylvania registration.

"We need to get him off the street, something like this that happens is a danger to our community, so we've got all hands on deck looking for this subject," Cpl. Bryda said.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to 911.
