Guilty plea in shooting of girl, 5

PHILADELPHIA - June 11, 2009 - Jury selection was under way in Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Wednesday for the trial of 25-year-old Noel "Pablo" Garcia when Garcia pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and related charges.

Five-year-old Casha'e Rivers was shot to death during a drug feud in Philadelphia's Strawberry Mansion section on Sept. 24, 2006.

A passenger in Garcia's car testified at Garcia's preliminary hearing that Garcia fired at the car carrying Casha'e and four others in retaliation for an earlier shooting.

As part of the plea agreement, Judge Renee Cardwell Hughes sentenced Garcia to 22 to 45 years in prison.
