Police: Trenton murder witnesses staying quiet

June 17, 2009 8:56:05 AM PDT
Police say fear of retribution is keeping witnesses from coming forward with information about a drive-by shooting that left a 13-year-old girl dead in New Jersey's capital.

Authorities say Tamrah Leonard was killed in front of dozens of onlookers on Sunday in what's believed to be a gang-related shooting.

But Police Capt. Joe Juniak says not many witnesses are talking. He says that even chatter about the crime on the street is down.

Juniak says the city has an anonymous tip line designed to deal with situations like this.
