The beach at Delaware Seashore Park at Tower Road in Dewey, Delaware is closed because of the discovery of medical waste and other trash Wednesday afternoon. The beach is on the ocean side of the Delaware Bay.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environment says a total of four syringes were found, including one it its original box.

The beach was closed as a precaution, but was opened again at 5:00 p.m.

The incident is being investigated as authorities try to find out where the waste came from.

The Dept. Of Natural Resources asks that people call 1-800-662-8802 if they see anything out of the ordinary.
