Cave weddings coming to an end

HELLERTOWN, Pa. (AP) - June 22, 2009

No, these aren't couples on lam who are getting hitched.

The owners of an eastern Pennsylvania cave are ending a 60-year tradition of weddings.

Co-owner Robert Gilman says due to financial, logistical and ecological concerns, the last wedding at the Lost River Caverns will be in August.

Since June of 1949, more than 100 couples have said subterranean "I do's."

The cavern owners say they're losing money on the weddings and there's concern smoky candles might damage the rock formations.
