Vote delayed on embattled Philly charter school

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - June 24, 2009 New Media Technology Charter School faces questions about academics and allegations of financial mismanagement. School Reform Commission Chairman Robert Archie Jr. says school district staff asked for more time to investigate.

Also at Wednesday's meeting, the commission voted to close William Penn High School for two years while officials discuss repairing or replacing the building. The board voted to close Gillespie Middle School permanently.
