1 injured in Point Breeze fire

One person has been injured in a Point Breeze High rise fire. The fire broke out just before 4:00 p.m. this afternoon on the sixth floor of a 12-story apartment building at 2502 Jackson Street.

The fire itself was contained to the one sixth floor apartment building.

A 61-year-old woman living inside that apartment was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for smoke inhalation. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Fire crews are checking the upper floors of the building to evacuate residents.

The fire was brought under control just before 4:30 p.m.
