Car fleeing police slams into homes

Several families got an unexpected wake up call early Sunday morning after a car fleeing from police struck a gas line, forcing them from their homes.It happened in Chester, Delaware County just after midnight.

Police say the driver of a Chevy Camaro fled from a DUI checkpoint set up at 13th Street and Edgemont.

The driver lost control several blocks later and drove onto the front porches of several homes on the 2200 block of East Providence Avenue. The car then struck a gas line.

Firefighters had to evacuate 6 homes along that block.

The driver faces numerous charges.
