Dean of Villanova law school resigns

VILLANOVA, Pa. - July 2, 2009 - A statement from the university says Mark Sargent submitted his resignation on Monday, citing personal and medical reasons. Sargent could not be reached for comment Thursday.

School officials immediately replaced him with Associate Dean Doris DelTosto Brogan, who will serve as acting dean.

Sargent's biography on the law school Web site says he has been at Villanova since 1997. Before that, he taught at law schools at the University of Maryland, American University, Southern Methodist University and the University of Baltimore.

A Villanova spokesman was not immediately available for comment Thursday.
