Tandem bike stolen from blind woman

NEWARK, Del. - July 2, 2009 - It happened in the 300 block of Ashley Road in Newark.

The bike is a red Huffy Savannah with black seats, with a silver air pump attached.

The bike owner tells Action News that it was chained to a fence and went missing Wednesday morning.

The bike allowed her to peddle and enjoy a ride from the back seat while another person steered from the front.

"It's the only way I can ride. I have no vision. It was a great source of pleasure for my husband and me," said Beverly Wieland.

The bike is valued at more than $1,000.

Anyone with information is urged to call Newark Police.
