2 armed robberies minutes apart

NEW CASTLE, Del. - July 5, 2009 Today at 4:08 a.m., County Police responded to the area of the 1500 block of New Jersey Avenue for a report of a family that was robbed at gunpoint.

Five minutes later at 4:13, a second robbery was reported to have occurred at a home in the 1600 block of New Jersey Avenue. In the second robbery, a Hispanic female was sleeping when she was startled by a man who was pointing a handgun at her while she was in bed. The subject stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim before he fled through a window and ran off on foot.

In the first crime, a Hispanic family had just returned home and was accosted at gunpoint as they were walking into their apartment building. The suspect in both cases is believed to be the same gunman who is described as a thin black male who stood about 6 feet tall and was wearing a dark colored matching sweatshirt and pants.
