Severely burned cat dies

A cat that was burned and apparently abused to a further extent died Sunday night. The cat was lit on fire and suffered burns over its entire body.

Animal control officer Dave Schlott rescued the cat, which is believed to be a stray, from the parking lot of the Darby Borough Library after someone called police.

Schlott told Action News that during a necropsy, veterinarians found jagged chicken bones in the cat's stomach.

They believe that the cat was abused before being lit on fire.

The cat was pronounced dead at 7:00 p.m.

Schlott is still offering a $100 reward for any information on whoever burned the cat. You are asked to call 911 with any details.
