Severely burned cat dies

SPRINGFIELD, Pa. - July 5, 2009 The cat was lit on fire and suffered burns over its entire body.

Animal control officer Dave Schlott rescued the cat, which is believed to be a stray, from the parking lot of the Darby Borough Library after someone called police.

Schlott told Action News that during a necropsy, veterinarians found jagged chicken bones in the cat's stomach.

They believe that the cat was abused before being lit on fire.

The cat was pronounced dead at 7:00 p.m.

Schlott is still offering a $100 reward for any information on whoever burned the cat. You are asked to call 911 with any details.
