Walgreens extends Del. Medicaid Rx program

WILMINGTON, Del. - July 6, 2009 - The company was set to end its participation on July 6th.

The state announced the chain agreed to the extension so they can continue to work with the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services over the state's decision to reduce its Medicaid reimbursement to pharmacies.

Walgreens senior vice president of pharmacy Kermit Crawford said in a statement released by the state, "This extension gives both of us needed time to work out an agreement without impacting pharmacy care to Medicaid recipients. We're hopeful a compromise will be reached."
