Police say the driver, Shannon Newell, 19, of the Westmont section of Haddon Township, was driving north near milepost 59 when she lost control, crossed over the median and southbound lanes, and hit a tree.
Newell was killed.
Her passenger, Bridget Shannon, 18, of Burlington, Mass. was flown to Cooper Medical Center in Camden. Her injuries were not life threatening.
Investigators say Newell may have been distracted by the radio before losing control of the car.
