A reward is being offered to find the person who lit a cat on fire. The animal later died. The reward for information is now up to $500.

The cat was lit on fire and suffered burns over its entire body.

Animal control officer Dave Schlott rescued the cat, which is believed to be a stray, from the parking lot of the Darby Borough Library over the weekend after someone called police.

Schlott told Action News that during a necropsy, veterinarians found jagged chicken bones in the cat's stomach.

They believe that the cat was abused before being lit on fire.
