Fumes sicken trash truck workers

UPPER DARBY, Pa. - July 10, 2009 HAZMAT crews were called out to Summit Avenue in Upper Darby, Pa. on Friday.

According to the fire chief on the scene, two types of chemicals were inside a trash bag. When the bag was compacted in the truck, they mixed together creating a toxic odor.

The driver of the truck and two additional workers became dizzy and nauseated.

All three were taken to Delaware County Memorial Hospital.

It is not clear exactly which chemicals were involved.
