Wilmington swim club fire ruled arson

WILMINGTON, Del. - July 10, 2009 That determination was announced Tuesday by the Delaware State Fire Marshal's office, who said the investigation is ongoing.

Flames tore through the main building at the Crestmoor Swim Club on the 600 block of West Summit Avenue last week.

The building housed offices, locker rooms and a pump room.

Firefighters had a hard time getting water because of a jammed hydrant.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor burns.

11 lifeguards have been put out of work and hundreds of children temporarily without a place to swim.

Damage was estimated at $100,000.
