Police kill man carrying knife in NJ's capital

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - July 16, 2009 Trenton police initially had responded to a report of a man carrying a gun on Prospect Street Wednesday night.

Capt. Joe Juniak says a chase ensued with the suspect fleeing from a house armed with a knife.

Juniak says the suspect lunged at officers and they opened fire, hitting the man.

He died at a hospital.

Him name has not been released and the incident is under investigation.
