Police: Drugs found in safe during traffic stop

GLASGOW, Del. (AP) - July 16, 2009 Officers assigned to the Governor's Task Force stopped a car with an expired registration early Wednesday near Old Baltimore Pike and Sunset Lake Road in Glasgow.

Police spokesman Cpl. Jeff Whitmarsh says the officers asked to search the car after they smelled marijuana coming from the car.

Behind the driver's seat, Whitmarsh says the officers found a safe that contained 10 pounds of marijuana.

Police say 24-year-old Charles Fax Jr. of Middletown was charged with trafficking marijuana, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, driving with expired tags and other offenses.

Fax is being held in Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $34,100 bail.
