Water main break floods SW Phila street

A large water main break flooded part of Southwest Philadelphia early Sunday morning. The break happened at about 4:30 on the 2700 block of Island Avenue.

Laura Copeland from the Philadelphia Water Department tells Action News that there are no reports of flooded homes because of the 24-inch main break. However, 60 customers remain without water at this time.

The Water Department responded to the scene. Service was restored to all customers by 11:30 a.m.

Island Avenue remains closed between Buist Avenue and Lindbergh Boulevard. The Septa bus route has been diverted from that area.
