Delaware state police say a 24-year-old Lewes man has been charged with drunkenly fighting a bouncer at Gray Hare Tavern and threatening a police officer when he was asked to leave. Kevin Soots was asked to leave the bar in the 18000 block of John J. Williams Highway on Saturday night because he was causing a scene.

Cpl. Bruce Harris says bouncers tried to escort Soots out, but he began cursing and knocked a 44-year-old bouncer to the ground. When police arrived, bar employees had restrained Soots, who was verbally abusive.

Harris says Soots was arrested after a brief struggle and repeatedly said he planned on "getting the trooper and his family."

Soots was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct, intent to threaten the life of a public official resisting arrest and two other offenses.
