Camp kids going to Disney World!

OXFORD CIRCLE - July 20, 2009 Monday night they've been told they're going to Disney World, as a result of the controversy. And a Hollywood heavy-weight, who film-goers know as "Madea" is footing the bill.

"It has been eating me up inside, I'm sure you heard rumors," said Alethea Wright of Creative Steps Day Camp.

The rumors had been raging all afternoon about a celebrity, so moved by the kids being thrown out of the pool that he decided to send them all to Disney World. But who, who was it?

Action News was the only one there when the kids and their parents got the word that Perry was sending all 65 black and Hispanic kids to Disney World and a Disney Water Park for 3 days.

Perry, who's well known for his "Madea" character in the movies, which include "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" and "Madea's Family Reunion", learned of the story and could not believe it. He writes on his webpage: "It broke my heart and I wanted to do something. I want them to know that for every act of evil that a few people will throw at you, there are millions more who will do something kind for them. Show them they are just as good as anyone else that they can do or be anything they want to be no matter what anyone says."

"I'm so excited because the children get to see a person of color that's doing something positive for the children and the children do not have to be ashamed of the skin that they're in," said Wright.

"I thank God for what Tyler Perry's done for us," said Christina Rogers.

The kids will take their trip from July 31st to August 3rd.
