Preliminary hearing for assault suspect

July 21, 2009 He is charged with beating and robbing seven elderly women in Northeast Philadelphia since September 2008.

Police say Russell attacked the women as they walked home from grocery stores in the Lawncrest and Lawndale neighborhoods.

His victims are between 60 and 80-years-old.

Several victims are expected to testify at today's hearing.
