Woman killed in wrong-way Pa. turnpike crash

Police are trying to determine how a car began traveling the wrong way on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Pittsburgh before it crashed, killing a female passenger. The eastbound lanes of the turnpike near Monroeville were shut down for more several hours after the crash at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Police have not released the name of the woman killed. They say a child was in a restraint seat in the same car and escaped serious injury, though the child was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police have not released the names of the drivers involved.
