Police issue 400 more citations in safety campaign

The Office of Highway Safety says in the second week of its Stop Aggressive Driving Campaign police issued another 403 citations for speeding, bringing the total to 1,083. The campaign started earlier this month and runs through October. It is designed to reduce the number of speed related crashes in the state.

This year alone, speed has been a factor in 29 percent of the states 48 fatal crashes, slightly higher than the 25 percent caused by alcohol involvement.

Drivers are encouraged to report any aggressive or impaired drivers by calling 911.
