It happened around 5:35 p.m. along the 2800 block of Willits Road in Northeast Philadelphia.

Police say the Marshal, along with Philadelphia Homicide Detectives, were serving an arrest warrant on Donnell Murchison.

Murchison is wanted in connection with the Piazza at Schmidts double murder.

He attempted to escape by jumping through a window.

Police say he then ran into a nearby wooded area.

The Marshal and homicide detectives gave chase but the Marshal was struck by a van that was not involved in the investigation.

The 34-year old Marshal was transported to Aria Hospital's Torresdale Division.

He was deemed a trauma alert while en route, but is expected to recover from his injuries.

The suspect was apprehended.
