Fifty-eight-year-old Alan Kushner is charged with attempted murder, solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Kushner's wife, Sarran, was shot in the wrist in the driveway of the couple's Lower Merion Township home on May 16, 2008. She told police her husband had threatened to kill her. No one has been charged in the case.
A former patient has testified that Kushner offered him $20,000 to kill his wife before their divorce was finalized. But defense attorney Frank DeSimone has implied that unidentified drug dealers could have shot the woman to send a message to a relative.
Kushner is jailed without bail pending the outcome of the trial.
