Drexel begins national search for new pres.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - August 4, 2009

The private university in Philadelphia is looking to fill the job held by /*Constantine Papadakis*/, who died earlier this year of complications from lung cancer. He had led the school since 1995.

Drexel officials said Tuesday that a recruiting firm has been chosen to work with a 12-member search committee composed of students, faculty, staff, alumni and trustees. The university expects to begin interviewing candidates early next year, with a decision by spring.

C.R. "Chuck" Pennoni, a former chairman of Drexel's board of trustees, is serving as interim president of the university, which has about 21,000 students.
