Emergency workers rushed to the recreation center in Philadelphia's Feltonville section after a child started having trouble swimming and had to be pulled from the water.

The accident happened around 2 p.m. in the pool at the rec center, located at the 200 block of East Wyoming Avenue.

Recreation Department officials tell Action News that the 7-year-old was swimming with his mother when he started having trouble.

The boy's mother pulled him up and lifeguards intervened and started CPR along the side of the pool.

The boy started breathing again, according to officials, and medics arrived and transported the child to Saint Christopher's Hospital.
