Pedestrian struck on Garden State Parkway

A man is fighting for his life after being struck on the Garden State Parkway. TRAVEL LINKS: It happened at mile marker 7.6 around 9:43 a.m. Monday.

According to state police, Frederick Davis, 65, was driving northbound but then pulled over, stopped, and got out of his car.

Police say he then starting walking in the right-hand lane when he was struck by the driver-side mirror of a minivan.

Then, investigators say, Davis got back in his car and drive to mile marker 8.7, and got out again.

He then walked in the right lane, police say, and was hit head-on by a Volkswagen.

Davis was flown by helicopter to Atlantic City Medical in critical condition.

The incident is still under investigation.
