Woman in drunken breast-feeding case jailed

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - August 12, 2009 A judge last week had ordered 26-year-old Stacey Anvarinia to get treatment that could have helped her avoid jail on a child-neglect charge. The case grabbed international attention and stirred debate about breast-feeding, alcohol and privacy.

Hours after her sentencing, Anvarinia was arrested for allegedly slashing a tire on a truck. Police say she appeared drunk when they found her. The child was not in her custody.

The fresh legal troubles prompted Judge Sonja Clapp to rescind the treatment option for Anvarinia on Wednesday.

Anvarinia pleaded not guilty to the new charges she faces - criminal mischief and preventing arrest.
