DUI offenders to wash cars

BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) - August 26, 2009

A car wash fundraiser this weekend for Mothers Against Drunk Driving will have DUI offenders doing the washing.

Car washes at an Auto Zone parts store in Bristol, Tenn., Saturday will cost ten bucks apiece.

The Bristol Herald Courier reports jail inmates wearing orange- and white-striped jump suits will be doing the scrubbing.

Sullivan County Sheriff Wayne Anderson says the inmates enjoy this sort of project.

He adds the prisoners feel like they're giving something back to the community.
