Trucker killed in fiery crash on NJ Turnpike

CRANBURY, NJ - August 29, 2009 - State police were unsure what caused the crash, which occurred around 1:40 a.m. in a northbound lane near milemarker 70.9 in Cranbury. They say the truck swerved off the road and struck a guardrail, then went into an embankment before becoming engulfed in flames.

The driver, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 6 a.m.

The crash and subsequent investigation caused extensive traffic delays in the area for several hours.
