NJ trooper helps deliver baby

VORHEES, N.J. - August 30, 2009 Trooper Recalde was on a motor vehicle stop just before 2:00 a.m. Saturday when Patrick Parker, 36, of Wenonah, approached him saying his wife, Holly Parker, 35, was in labor and they were enroute to Virtua Hospital in Voorhees.

Recalde told them to continue on their way to the hospital, which they did.

Shortly thereafter, Recalde came upon the car again pulled off on the shoulder of northbound 295 in Haddon Heights Borough, but this time Mrs. Parker was in the rear seat actually beginning to give birth.

Recalde gave the father some coaching and helped to support the baby as Vivian Leigh Parker was born.

Medics arrived a short time after the birth and transported mom and baby girl to the hospital where both were doing very well.

Later, Trooper Recalde visited the family in the hospital.
