Helicopter lands on Atlantic City beach

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - August 31, 2009 Pilot Robert Schapiro had taken off from the Steel Pier with two passengers for a 5-minute trip when he sensed trouble Sunday.

Steel Pier Helicopters owner Bob Conti says it could have been a bird strike or anything.

Schapiro landed the helicopter on the Florida Avenue beach.

The chopper was loaded on a truck and taken to Atlantic City International Airport, where it will be inspected.
