3-hour chase on NJ Turnpike

BAYONNE, N.J. (AP) - September 6, 2009 Troopers began following a sport utility vehicle driven by Eleanor Valdenarro of Dumont after her passenger, a 54-year-old Jersey City woman, called police and said Valdenarro would not let her out of the vehicle, which was on the Turnpike in Mercer County and headed south.

State police spokesman Sgt. Stephen Jones said the women "were acquainted" but declined to elaborate on their relationship, saying authorities were not sure what provoked the incident. The passenger was unharmed.

Valdenarro was charged with criminal restraint, making terroristic threats and eluding. She was being held Sunday on $23,000 bail at the Hudson County Jail, and it was not known if she had retained a lawyer.
