Police say a practical joke lead to a bomb scare in Philadelphia Thursday morning. A student at William Penn Charter School told police he found pipes in his book bag yesterday and placed them by a trash can at 1725 Hoffnagle St.

He showed a picture of the pipes to someone at home, who remarked they looked like a bomb..

The Philadelpha Police Ordinance Disposal Unit was called out to investigate around 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The boy's home was evacuated.

Police say it was a counterweight, a commericially made construction item. Investigators add that this may be a practical joke that may have been played on the boy.

If the person who pulled the joke is found, they may face charges.
