Authorities say there have been an uptick in the number of bear sightings inthe area.

In fact, local wildlife officials believe as many as 5 bears are walking around these parts looking for trash cans and bird feeders filled with tasty treats.

The State Game Commission has been granted permission to put bear traps on property owned by a local hunting club, and the plan is to capture the bears and release them in a rural wooded area.

Residents are asked to stay clear of the bears, to not feed them and to keep trash properly stored so as not to attract them.

The game commission says Pennsylvania's bear population has been increasing, there could be as many as 15,000 black bears in the state.
