Eagles QB situation uncertain for Sunday

PHILADELPHIA - September 23, 2009 Kevin Kolb would make his second straight start if McNabb can't play against Kansas City this week. Coach Andy Reid isn't sure whether Jeff Garcia or Michael Vick would be the backup quarterback.

Reid wouldn't even say that Vick is definitely playing against the Chiefs. Vick is eligible for the first time after serving a two-game suspension as the final league penalty for his role in running a dogfighting ring.

But Vick, calling himself "The Wildcat Originator," says he's ready for whatever role the Eagles have for him. The three-time Pro Bowl quarterback has not played a regular-season game since Dec. 31, 2006 with Atlanta.

"I'm very excited to have the opportunity to go out there and play football, regardless of my role," Vick said Wednesday. "This is a dream come true for me."

Kolb made his first NFL start against the Saints, throwing for 391 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. McNabb was injured in the season opener at Carolina.
