When officers arrived, they found the front door had been broken and, once inside, they noticed a broken TV on the floor.
Officers say the suspect, Cerrone King, 27, was enraged over missing DVDs that he was trying to recover from the apartment.
Once inside, police say King grabbed the victim by the neck and began choking her. Two children were present in the home as this happened, police say.
She tried to call 911 from a cell phone, and police say King took the phone and threw it on the floor, breaking it. He then allegedly picked up the phone again and threw it at the woman, hitting her below her left eye.
The woman was able to get King out of the apartment, and he fled in an unknown direction.
King is described as a 27 year old black male, 5' 08", 180 pounds, with a dark complexion, brown eyes and brown hair. Warrants are currently on file for King charging him with: burglary in the first degree, assault in the third degree, criminal mischief, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and malicious interference with emergency communications (call for help).
To offer information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) Tip-3333.
