Man arrested after armed burglary, shooting

BELVEDERE, Del. - October 1, 2009

Police say 18-year-old Montrail Allen, of the 1100 block of Pleasant Street, robbed a 48-year-old man at gunpoint and later shot at the victim and his sister as they chased the suspect in their car.

Allen was arrested after the black Honda Pilot he was in crashed in the area of 3rd and Scott Streets. After the crash, all of the occupants fled from the car in opposite directions. Montrail Allen was arrested after a brief foot chase. His other 2-3 accomplices were able to escape.

The car turned out to be stolen.

At the time of his arrest, Allen was in possession of 17 bags of crack cocaine and a small amount of marijuana.

Allen has been charged with robbery in the first degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited (due to a previous felony conviction), two counts of reckless endangering, possession with the intent to deliver cocaine, and possession of marijuana.
