Search for imposter cop in Philly

PENNYPACK PARK - October 2, 2009 RELATED: Sketch of the suspect has been released

It happened along the 8500 block of Algon Street in Philadelphia Thursday. At noon, the victim was working with police investigators and an artist to come up with a composite sketch.

The 25-year-old victim, police say, was walking down Algon Avenue around 4:40 p.m. with her baby in a stroller. The attacker claimed to be a plain-clothes police officer and tried grab the woman and take her down into the nearby woods.

The woman eventually broke away with her child.

The suspect is described as:

  • White Male
  • Age 30 to 40
  • About 5'11" tall
  • About 200lbs
  • Light complexion
  • Husky Build
  • Blond buzz cut
Police say he lured the woman across the street by claiming to be an officer and that he needed help finding a lost dog. Then he grabbed her, according to police.

Police expect to release more details later in the afternoon Friday.
